a-program changes - my believe on the reluctancy of clients for program changes can only point to our very own way of work. It seems like an ongoing trend to change programs little by little to come up with buildings that look like contemporary art museums. Overlap the image of Bilbao's Gugenheim with the Disney Opera House and you will probably get a similar contour. In a similar fashion yet attending other needs OMA's McCormick Tribune Campus Center share a common aesthetic to Kunsthall art museum in the Netherlands. Nothing really out of the ordinary but it has set a trend followed by practitioners around the world, or at least in america.
b-music with a view design - in it's overall design strategy seems awesome. A tidy design solution without the monumentality that is commonly seen in music hall. The floor plan looks great, a sensitive solution to planning. The only thing that concerned me was it's section. If most books on acoustics are correct , flat or single pitch roofs are better for acoustics. What do you think? |
