But all the same, Rogers' building is extremely stiking and a tremendous asset to Wales. Strangely, for a building of its size, it is difficult to see until you are standing right in front of it, because Cardiff Bay has become a sort of Architectural Expo of large, closely spaced buildings competing for attention. Another unfortunate but necessary compromise was the grand stepped approach rising from the waters edge. It has eventually become a mish mash of ramps, hand rails and security barriers.
