Hi,
I am having fun with a 3D solid modeling package and have hopes of designing a house (just for a fun challenge).
The problem is - I'm not an architect. I am not especially knowledgeable when it comes to the details of home construction either. I was hoping to find some useful sources for information about the details of the construction of a home. Studs and 2x4s and rafters and trusses and all of the other components involved.
Like I said before this house will never be built, so there is not a great concern to get it right as far as structural soundness, but I would like to follow the conventions as far as the actual structural components.
I am just trying to educate myself, and learn a thing or two about building a house.
SO, with all that being said, does anyone have any sources where I can learn about these things, see some 2D drawings of home construction features, etc etc? Basically a "learn how to build a house tutorial."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

I second that...it has become a begginers Bible of sorts. It simply a great source.
