| I think Richard Rogers is the most obviously deserving Pritzker Prize winner in some years. Some of the others have also been deserving, maybe other others not so. But Rogers stands out. It's been a real pleasure to work on this coverage of his work. |

From an interview on tonight's Lehrer News Hour (PBS), Jeffrey Brown speaking to Sir Richard:
The benefits of externally-serviced space like the Pompidou Center [and the Lloyd's building ?]: 1) Flexible and permanently unencumbered floors; 2) play of light-and-shadow in the exterior, a classic architectural concern; and 3) human scale given to the building.
He questioned whether one can equate Beethoven with Einstein, as a way of thinking about the question of whether art -- culture -- is any more or less important than science or other human concerns.
