Helloo im in abit of a pickle. Basically i finishd my first yr of architecture and wznt successful :( failin jus 1 module. As u may knw, ur not allowd to carry on to the 2nd yr. As a result my hopes hav been broken but the passion is still there.

The two options i hav nw are to repeat that module this yr and go into the 2nd yr nxt yr
or Tranfer onto a architectural design and project development course as a 2nd yr student and maybe do a masters in architecture as a follow on.

The ting is i dnt knw wat would be the best option in the long run. As 1 i would be studyin as an architect whereas the other would be a architectural technologist.

Ne1 there that can tell me the difference between the two and suggest the best option to carry out?????

First, I'm not sure what an architectural technologist is -- but it won't make you an architect. So if being an architect is what you want, dig deep, apply yourself, and try again.

If you are truly passionate about staying in your degree program, you might want to go and talk to a couple of your professors or anyone else who teaches IN YOUR DEGREE PROGRAM who is familiar with the different paths you could take.

Curiosity is getting the best of me...which coursework did you fail?

If you decide to stay in, and the failed coursework has gotten you behind by an entire year, then consider how to fill that year to make you the best candidate possible to move into the next part of the program. If I were you, apart from re-doing the course you need to pass (and getting a tutor if you need one), take a look at any and all of the electives that you can move out of the way for the future. If you knock off some of the non-architecture electives, it will leave some space for electives that you'll really want to take later in your scholastic career.

As well, you might give some thought to taking a course or two that will help beef up your graphic and design skills. If your program requires a presentation or portfolio before acceptance into the architecture curriculum, now is your chance to take the time to make it the best presentation possible.

I am not an archtect and neither know what's architectural technologist. But I understand passion will always lead us to the right road.there is an chinese adage:"yi bu wai,bai bu xie".it's meaning is--one step of uncorrect direction will following many uncorrect steps.

So never give up your dream easily.

There is information at www.stairwaytoarchitecture.com that you might be interested in, especially the links page has numerous links to places which can help you make this decision, I think.

If you are serious about becoming an architect, it is not plain from your manner of speaking. You will find that being successful sometimes means making the effort to meet people more than half way.

Not a s3rmn, jst a thot 4u.

you don't need school to become an architect just go out and work for one for 10 years to get broad experience route or 5 years for the arizona route.

work in the field is way more important than sucumming to a authoritarian professor who would fail you their 'customer'

Antisthenes, your advice is not true universally, only in some states, few of them, and the number is decreasing.

Visit ncarb.org and read the requirements for yourself.
